This is a method of grafting used for repairing damage to the bark of a tree. Use a Crown Graft for the actual grafts.
Method -
Prepare the tree by cutting away the damaged bark in a ring around the tree. Make vertical slits where the grafts are to go.
The scion should be prepared from well-ripend shoots of the previous years growth. Choose shoots that have a slight curve in them so that they can be shaped to fit.
Place the scion onto the stock with the two faces in good contact with each other. This is important for the graft to succeed.
Wrap and tie raffia or plastic grafting tape around each end of the graft making sure that the scion is held in place firmly. Paint with wound paint if you prefer.
